Frequently Asked Questions
Why 46 Minutes?
As part of the creation process of Hannah Littman's A DECAGON, the dance theater piece that would eventually evolve into our collective's first project, The DECAGON Project, dramaturg Avi Klipfel interviewed performer Elliot Hoke twice to gather verbatim text for the script. The recordings of both interviews were 46 minutes long. For a piece about chance versus fate and the connections that add up to what we call life, we took note of the coincidence. Later when we decided to form a collective and started brainstorming name ideas, this coincidence from the project that had brought us together simply felt right.

No interview or recording since then has ever been 46 minutes long.

What is a collective?
Creatively speaking, we are a group of independent artists with similar ideals who are committed to working on each other's work. What that means in practice is that we don't have a vertical hierarchical structure. While we all have roles within the collective, no one person holds an overall position of authority. All of our decisions, artistic to business, are made, well, collectively. Everyone here works together, everyone here has a say, and everyone here has a stake in the collective.

We hold auditions per project as necessary. Whenever we do hold auditions we will put the call out on our mailing list and our Instagram.
